The 77-year-old Trump said in a statement, ‘If our football team was not awakened by a group led by left-wing fanatics, they would have won the gold medal instead of bronze.’ He said, ‘Waking up means you lost, whatever is woke, turns bad, and our football team has definitely turned bad.’ The former President said, ‘Instead of people with left-wing thoughts or perspectives on social justice, patriots should be brought into the team and start winning again.’

The former American President targeted team members, including women’s star player Megan Rapinoe. He specifically targeted Rapinoe and called her “purple-haired woman.” Trump said she played very poorly. Even though she scored two goals out of four for the team, one of which was a surprising corner as well.

Rapinoe is one of the most outspoken critics of Donald Trump and previously supported Senator Elizabeth Warren during the 2020 Democratic primary.
